Meika graduated from Charles Sturt University in Wagga, and has worked in mixed practice befoe moving here in 2015. Meika enjoys all aspects of her job, mixed practice means that each day is different and the variety keeps you on your toes! She grew up on a sheep and cattle farm in NSW, with stockhorses and kelpies too. Meika can be found at either clinic or out on farm, and enjoys surgery cases particularly. Meika has done further veterinary training in equine reproduction, dentistry and lameness. She also is a PregCHECK accredited cattle pregnancy tester, recognised with the Australian Cattle Veterinarians.

She and her husband Joe enjoy camping and bike riding, and with the arrival of their son Toby last year, she is keen to get him involved in all the north east has to offer.

Dr Joe Skuse BVBiol, BVSc

Joe Skuse hails from Queensland originally and has worked in northern and north west NSW, before moving here in 2015. Joe has particular interest in cattle medicine and is mostly found out on farm these days. However his experience in rural mixed practice means he is involved in a bit of everything! He has done further training in equine dentistry and lameness, is a skilled examiner in bull fertility and is an accredited cattle pregnancy tester with the Australian Cattle Veterinarians. He is currently undertaking further training course from Dairy Australia as a Countdown Mastitis advisor.

Joe has settled into Victorian life, spending plenty of spare time on mountain bike tracks and trying for the occasional mountain bike competition with a few mates too. He is a keen footballer, with history in almost all codes, though feels he has hit retirement age for playing, so watches instead! Squash and tennis has been more to his taste outside of work this year, and you'll find him on his kayak enjoying the weir over summer too.

He enjoys the great outdoors and has been spending plenty of weekends adventuring in the local area when not returning home to play AFL for his home town of Mangoplah (near Wagga).

He is particularly enjoying the cattle work in the district, and becoming a familiar face on farm. Working at both clinics, we are lucky to have a great vet join the crew whilst Meika is on leave with her son, Toby.

Nursing Staff

Mrs Joyce Carver

Joyce is our longest serving staff member and an all round great team player! Usually you will only see Joyce at the Tallangatta Clinic on Saturday mornings, organising the usual weekend chaos. Through the week she enjoys her garden, patchwork sewing, community volunteer work and the family farm in the Tallangatta Valley, with plenty of pets too!

Ms Libby Clark Cert IV Vet. Nursing

"Libby here: I now am enjoying semi-retirement, having been around the place for quite some time now! I can spend more time with my pets, travel and poke around my jungle of a garden! I have found my career in vet nursing extremely rewarding- we are forever learning in this vocation and never once have I not wanted to get up in the morning and go to work. I find the only draw back of loving our animals is losing them, but 'it is better to have loved and lost then never to have loved at all'. So 'cheers' to all those who care and love their pets- all creatures great and small."

Mrs Julie Bowen Cert Business, Cert IV Vet. Nursing

"My love of animal was a natural progression. I’m a local girl at heart, born and raised on a dairy farm at Bonegilla. Moving to the big smoke of Albury in my early teens where I was involved in Pony Club and our family was heavily involved in Horse training and racing in the Albury Wodonga area. My working career has been varied and always customer focused. I began working at the Tallangatta and Kiewa Vet Clinics in December 2009. I have a Certificate IV in Vet Nursing and was awarded in 2011 the recipient of the Centre Achievement Award (Dux) across the Equine and Animal Science Department and a finalist in student of the year at Wangaratta Tafe. I now live at Ebden on acreage with my husband Andrew and out 8 ‘furry’ kids (Four dogs- Sasha, Bart, Indi and Brax, two horses Tex and Elli May and our two cats Pebbles and Bam Bam)
I have a passion for animal behaviour and obedience training, and a keen interest in animal physiotherapy specialising in post-surgery recovery and arthritis management. I am fortunate to being part of such a professional and caring team doing something I love every day."

Miss Stacie Kennett almost finished B.Sc (Agriculture)

Stacie joined the Tallangatta and Kiewa Veterinary Clinics in October 2016. A local girl from Tangambalanga, she is enjoying working with plenty of familiar faces in our clientele, including the dairy farmers she has previously worked for.

Currently studying a Bachelor of Agricultural Science by distance education, her knowledge and experience is growing at a rate of knots! She has become a key team member here, working hard at both clinics with a genuine love and empathy for animals. Her previous experience in a pet store gives her a wealth of knowledge on product range too, so ask her for advice when next in looking for pet food, shampoos or flea products. Her own dog "Delta" and cat "Ginny" are taking advantage of the nursing skills she is learning on the job!

Miss Vivienne Marshall Cert IV Vet. Nursing

Viv joined us early in 2017, coming to us from a busy small animal clinic in Wagga NSW. Her passion for country life is what drew her to the Tallangatta and Kiewa Veterinary Clinics, and we welcome her experience and enthusiasm. Viv is originially from a farm at Burrumbuttock, and so is fitting in well with our rural workplace. She has a Golden Retriever "Nimble" who keeps her busy, and more recently a 'local' joined her crew, Betty the labrador. Viv is enjoying the challenges of mixed practice, and does a stella job controlling the clinics for smooth day to day running.

Miss Kerrie Arundel Cert IV Vet. Nursing

Kerrie Arundel joined the Tallangatta and Kiewa Veterinary Clinics in October 2017, coming to us from Maffra and Sale clinics in Gippsland. Her experience and nursing skills are second to none and we are thrilled to have her on board!
